Our story

Acouasma began with a simple idea: that traditional Chinese dress belongs in everyday life, not just on special occasions. We take the forms that have carried meaning for centuries — the stand collar, the mamian skirt, the hand-knotted pankou — and cut them clean, in fabric made to move through a real day.

The result is Neo-Chinese (新中式) womenswear that reads as quiet confidence rather than costume.

The craft

Each piece is made in small cuts. We work with mills to develop woven jacquard, dyed in limited lots, and set every pankou knot by hand — folded, never glued. Heritage shapes are re-graded for contemporary fit and movement, so they sit as naturally as anything else in your wardrobe.

We design and craft in China and ship worldwide. Whether it's a morning tea ceremony, an ordinary city day, or Lunar New Year, our pieces are built to be worn — and worn again.
